TM MOTO STEELS DR JACK – GP OF FIANDRE

July 31, 2024

GP DELLE FIANDRE – RD14 MX2

The fourteenth round of the World Championship coincided with the GP of Flanders, held on the toughest track of the entire tournament, Lommel. A sandy track that always puts machines and riders to the test.

Yago Martinez started the weekend on his TM, finishing 22nd in the time trial on Saturday. In this position he went to the gate for the RAM qualifying race. After a good start with the passing of the minutes, the difficulty of the terrain became apparent and he finished in 21st place.

On Sunday, in the first race, Yago had a good start and was up front at the first corner. He stayed in the points for the first few laps, but after the first quarter of the race he suffered from the physical problems he had in Loket and dropped back again to finish in 24th place.

At that point, after a careful assessment of the situation, it was decided to use the two weeks off to get Yago back on track and not to use him for the start of the second race of the GP. It was a decision taken to protect the youngster in view of his many commitments in August, and to avoid any risk so that he could return to Uddevalla in good shape.

YAGO MARTINEZ: “I am suffering from physical problems that I hope to resolve soon, and it was not easy for me to race in Lommel under these circumstances. I would like to thank my team, who continue with motivation and the desire to come back and do good races”.

The next round of the MX2 World Championship will take place on the 10th and 11th of August in Uddevalla for the Swedish GP, in conjunction with the EMX125. So both our guys will be there.
