Everything began in 1976, with two friends who shared two great passions: motorbikes and races.
Thanks to the excellent quality and high performance of its bikes, this small Pesaro-based company became a large business in just a few years. The pioneers of TM, Claudio Flenghi and Francesco Battistelli (otherwise known as “Mr. Engine” and “Mr. Frame”) are two childhood friends who have spent a large part of their lives in direct contact with the world of motorsports.

In 1977, the two friends abandoned their respective jobs and brought their Motorcycle Company to life, registering it with the name TM (from the initials of the names of Flenghi and Battistelli’s sons, Thomas and Mirko).
Still in 1977, they gave a motorbike to Gastone Serafini, a young rider from Pesaro, who would be of great help to Battistelli in the development of the bike, and would achieve competition results at the highest level.

At the Milan Motorcycle Show in 1977, TM would be unexpectedly successful, pushing them to move their headquarters from Flenghi’s small workshop to a new, better equipped facility in Pesaro’s industrial area. And it was in that very period that the Serafini family would enter into joint ownership, allowing them to produce 200 motocross bikes in 1978.

In 1979, TM expanded its racing team, adding Tommaso Lolli alongside Gastone Serafini, and continued to grow, with the first TM enduro bikes also being made that year. In 1982, Batistelli decided to leave TM, and his position was taken over by Gastone Serafini, who, having reached the end of his professional riding career, decided to join Flenghi full time in running the company.

In the following years, many riders rode TM motorbikes, achieving excellent results in the national and international field, and excellent results also came out of the go-kart department, where TM and its engines became a leader in a short space of time. The philosophy that has always made TM stand out is without a doubt their choice of materials: they must always be top quality, with production processes even described by some as “obsessive”. Not to mention the high performance engines that equip their standard bikes, which in many cases are significantly superior to the official engines of the most high-end competitors.

This is what justifies the price of these gems of technology, which are designed for a niche market made up of highly demanding customers. Indeed, they can buy a standard product that is good enough to compete in top-level races.

On the 28th June 2021, something important happened, which marked a fundamental change in our company.

All of our bikes have been totally revolutionised in their design: from the engine to the smallest parts, everything has been completely overhauled, while holding firmly onto the roots of our Italian artisan tradition. They were presented at the Rossini Theatre, in the presence of employees, dealers, journalists and riders.
Let’s look back together on the strongest emotions of SINFONIA2022 in this video, and return to a day that we will never forget, that will always remain in our hearts.

In 2024, TM Moto celebrated its extraordinary journey with the release of its first official documentary, “Ad Ogni Costo”. This emotional film retraces the brand’s origins, from its early days to its international success, told by those who have lived every challenge, victory, and pivotal moment.

Through exclusive footage and heartfelt testimonials, the documentary unveils the passion, craftsmanship, and determination that have made TM Moto a symbol of excellence. A tribute to those who have shaped this legacy and to those who continue to carry it forward every day.
