Mason Semmens secures second place aboard a TM at Victorian Junior MX Championships.
Victorian racer Mason Semmens has wrapped up the final round of the Victorian Junior Motocross Championships held at Albury on the weekend of the 13th and 14th of July, with race win on his way to finishing second overall in the Small Wheel 85cc class.
The TM mounted 12 year old, support by Victorian TM Dealer, Top –Notch Power-Equipment, who was fresh off the back of a big win at the 2013 Hattah Desert Race, got the final round off to a perfect start with a win in the opening moto. Things did not go Mason’s way in moto two with a small crash while leading leaving him to finish in the moto in second position.
With the final race of the round and the championship cancelled due to bad weather, Mason finished both the round and the championship in second position.
“The final round at Albury went well for me coming out in the first moto with a win,” Semmens commented. “In the second moto I got the holeshot and then I crashed in the whoops and ended up 2nd. The last race then got cancelled because of the rain and mud!
“Finishing second at the Vics was great and I’m happy with my results, even though I didn’t get the number 1 plate I’m still happy with 2nd.
With a successful Victorian championship series now concluded, Mason will turn his attention to the 2013 Australian Junior Motocross Championship which will be held in his home state of Victoria.
“I will be on the bike a fair bit and training like what I did for the Vics and Hattah leading up to the Aussie titles at Horsham.
“Horsham is a pretty good track when it’s dry but when it’s wet it’s not that fun but also I have heard that Horsham club has done a lot of work into the track and I am looking forward to seeing what is like.
“My goals at the Junior Aussies this year is to try my hardest and come out with a good result, hopefully top five finish.” Mason concluded.
